Check a safari, hike, boat trip or water activity as a specific booking rather than assuming one set of rules.
A national-park drive, a hike, a boat excursion and a rafting booking need different checks. Decide which activity matters most, then ask the provider to describe the route, permission and conditions in writing.
Start with access and permission
The Department of Wildlife Conservation says visitors enter national parks with permits and under their conditions. A general tourist permission is not a park permit. Ask which park, entrance and activity the booking includes, and who arranges the permit.
Do not infer permission for a walking or night safari from a broad “outdoor adventure” label. Confirm the specific activity with the responsible authority or operator. The wildlife safari guide lists useful booking questions.
Ask about the activity you will actually do
| Activity | Questions to settle |
|---|---|
| A guided walk | Exact route, access, difficulty, guide arrangements and weather cancellation |
| A boat trip | Departure point, supervision, equipment, weather decision and cancellation terms |
| A safari | Park, entrance, permit, vehicle, group and guiding arrangements |
| A water activity | Participant ability, equipment, supervision, conditions and alternative plans |
This is an editorial checklist, not an assurance that every provider supplies the same equipment or supervision. Ask how a participant's specific needs affect the booking.
Check conditions close to the day
The official climate guide explains seasonal patterns, but it does not establish the weather at a trail, river or departure point. Check current warnings and follow the operator's and authority's instructions. A previous visitor's photograph does not establish current access.
Keep time for an alternative if the activity cannot run. Compare whether the provider offers a change of date, another activity or a refund; those are different terms.
Keep the trip manageable
Plot travel days between activity bases before committing to several distant bookings. A planned wildlife encounter remains uncertain; do not pay on the assumption that a named animal must be seen. No fixed safari tariff, sighting count or universal “best month” is given here.
Check entry permission separately if the trip includes work, reporting, organizing or paid participation. Tourist permission does not cover every outdoor-related role.
